Butterscotch

Butterscotch

If you happen to have a sweet tooth, and like having a bit of a buzz, then butterscotch schnapps is probably the best drink that we can offer you.

While technically not a fruity drink like most other American schnapps, this drink has officially become recognized as a schnapps drink because of its smooth, syrupy flavor. Butterscotch schnapps isn't necessarily made from butterscotch, but it does taste like butterscotch – so there! It's best served with desserts – some of our personal favorite uses for butterscotch schnapps would be pouring them over bunt cakes, plain chiffon pastries, or a mountain of ice cream. Other good uses for butterscotch schnapps is to use it to spike coffee. There are fewer things better then getting slightly drunk with a sugar and caffeine high.

Making apple schnapps is exciting because there are many types of apples, and they can all be used to make apple schnapps. You'd need apples that are ripe and fresh, unflavored vodka, two clear glass jars, a dark room, a strainer and sugar syrup. Wash your apples and slice them – leave the skin on, and don't slice off the cores. Put them in the jar, and pour in the vodka, sealing it tightly and then leaving it in a dark room for around two months – shake and taste to make sure it's just right. Strain into a new jar and store for two days, before mixing it with equal parts of sugar syrup and storing for another couple of days (or weeks, the longer it seeps, the better the flavor). Serve whichever way you like.
